MARCHING PRACTICE THIS SATURDAY

Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Rancho band members should meet at 9:00 am in the Rancho Band Room with your instrument.

We will practice in the classroom and on the black top and will be finished by Noon. Please wear shoes suitable for marching. No sandals or flip-flops. You should also bring some water and a small snack if you want.

The Saturday practice sessions are also open to 6th grade band members who want to learn how to march.

JOB OPENINGS

We are looking for parents to help with the following:

Uniform Coordinator - Work with Mrs O. to size and keep track of who has what uniform pieces assigned. Help inspect the uniforms before each competition. You'll work Tues & Thurs nights from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in the month of October and the Tuesday and Thursday evening before each band competition in May 2009.

Craft Fair Organizer - Coordinate the annual Craft Fair to take place Nov 7 & 8 in the Rancho Gym. This has been a good fundraiser in the past

WINDOW STICKERS AVAILABLE

Our Rancho-Maze Band window stickers are now available! They are $6 each and support the general fund. Make checks payable to RANCHO-MAZE BAND BOOSTERS. Stickers will be available at the Band Booster meetings, Saturday practice sessions and from Mr. O

THE IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC EDUCATION

Susan Silveira (Chizek), our elementary school music teacher has put together some good resource information about the importance of teaching music and its effect on our children. FREE MONEY FOR THE BAND!

The easiest way to raise money for the band is through the Scrip program. Scrip donates a portion of your grocery store spending to the organizations you specify. There are 3 main contributors in town and all of your family members can sign up, which means that relatives all over the country can help!

CONTINUE THE TRADITION INTO HIGH SCHOOL !

As the Rancho-Maze 8th graders move on, we invite them to add their musical talent to the San Benito High School Scarlet Regiment Band. The band has already received numerous awards and commendations under the leadership of their director, Mr. Jim Zuniga, including a first-ever double sweepstakes award in the fall of 2003.
