GOOD SHOWING IN ALAMEDA

Competition continued to be tough in Alameda. It was hot, even by the bay, but the Band did a great job taking home 2nd place on the street. Both the Band and the Guard each took 2nd in their sections. The Concert band took home a 3rd place trophy. Our own Tim took first place in the middle school drill-down competition!

TOUGH COMPETITION IN VALLEJO

As we travel farther north, the competiton gets tougher as we get into the powerhouse band territory. Last Saturday in Vallejo was no exception. Rancho-Maze took home a second place trophy in concert, third in jazz and third in parade. They missed first place in concert by 1/3 point and sweepstakes by just over two points. When we go up against the powerhouse bands (Dover, Vallejo and Benicia) the scores get tighter and the difficulty increases. We'll face many of the same bands this weekend in Alameda. Please make the important practice sessions to fine-tune for this last competition of the season.

AWESOME START TO THE COMPETITION SEASON

The Band hit the ground running and brought home some first class hardware from their first outing. They took home first place in concert, first place in jazz, second place in marching and third place in auxiliary (Color Guard). The concert and jazz bands scored above 90 points which is very rare, especially for the first event of the season. Next week the competition heats up as we travel to Vallejo which is home turf for many first class bands.

We're looking for pictures from Del Mar. If you have any pictures or video you would like to share, we'll post on the web for everyone to enjoy.

2009 HONOR BAND - GREAT JOB!

SHARE YOUR HOLIDAY PHOTOS

The band welcomed Mr. O back after a few days off and performed live on KSBW TV for their annual Share Your Holiday toy & food drive. The weather was great and KSBW's Jim Vanderzwaan was very impressed with the band's sound.

SAN JOSE HOLIDAY PARADE PHOTOS

The band had a good beginning to the competition experience for this school year. They placed 3rd in the middle school division of the Wells Fargo Battle of the Bands as part of the San Jose Holiday Parade. For about 1/3 of the band, this was their very first competition experience. The crowd on the street was estimated at 120,000 and many thousands more watched on TV. A big thank you to everyone who took pictures. We had so many to choose form that we had to pick the best ones for the web. All of them are saved for the band archives though!
